Quick Update

Hello to anyone here. I appreciate you checking in. Today is Easter and I ate so many carbs! Tomorrow it’s back to low carbs. I can honestly say I notice a huge difference in how I feel when I am eating less carbs. When I say that I mean how much better I feel. Hopefully I can continue to drop some pounds before we leave for our cruise in June.

I have still been searching for a job, with no luck. I had an interview I felt went really well, they called my references and then no communication. The opportunities here are different than I found in Michigan. It’s been a little frustrating, actually it’s been super frustrating. I was hoping to find a job and make some friends here. I’ve been here for a year and a half and haven’t made a single friend of my own. Of course my boyfriend’s friends are my friends, but I can honestly say I haven’t made a single friend here.

I’ve had insomnia so bad lately, so in an attempt to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer, I’ve turned to podcasts. I haven’t found the holy grail of podcasts that has helped me with my lack of sleep, but I’m not giving up. So if any can suggest a podcast to help put me to sleep, I would greatly appreciate it.

The eclipse is in one week and my city is in the direct line of the path of totality. The area schools have cancelled classes for eclipse day and are selling parking spots for the event. Hell, the church just outside of my neighborhood is selling parking spots too. There are so many events going on here for not only the day of the eclipse, but the entire weekend. We will be staying home the entire weekend and avoiding the crowds and chaos.

We planted a garden of sorts in our backyard. We have a postage stamp sized backyard, so we have done beds along one side of the house, along the entire fence line and a large patch along the deck. We have planted tomatoes, potatoes, bell peppers, hot peppers, and lots of herbs. We still have to plant cucumbers, peas, squash, and zucchini. I am also planting as many marigolds as possible. No marigolds are not my favorite flower, in fact they are probably one of my least favorite. Marigolds, supposedly, keep away snakes, so maybe they are my new favorite flower. If I haven’t said it before, I am TERRIFIED of snakes. T. E. R. R. I. F. I. E. D. Like deathly afraid. I did see a few snakes in the backyard last year. Angelina saw a couple in the landscaping about a month ago, so I have steered clear of that are.

I have been back in a planning mode. In the past I have bought the big fancy planners and used them for a few weeks, maybe a couple of months and then I fell off the wagon. I always had the different colored pens and cute stickers to plan out my life, but those never kept me interested. Now I have one of those big paper desk calendars that I’m using to meal plan and plan for the cruise. Maybe I’ll break out my planner and try again.

My computer needs a charge, so that’s all the update I’ve got for today. I hope you all had a very Happy Easter. Don’t fall for the April Fool’s joke tomorrow!!!!
