Celebrity Crush

I don’t remember how it came up the other day, but Texas and I were talking about what celebrities we would like to sit down with, maybe have dinner and a couple of drinks. I immediately said Dave Matthews and Dave Grohl. He said Keanu Reeves would be one of his, and I totally agree with this choice and added him to my list too. I had a harder time choosing female celebrities. As I sit here writing this, I’m watching Eat, Pray, Love, and I must add Julia Roberts to my list. I’ve loved her movies since Mystic Pizza, so she would be one of my two female celebrity choices. The other, and this may surprise some people, because her celebrity is a little different now, Meghan Markle. I never watched Suits and honestly don’t know what she starred in besides that, but for some reason I found her very endearing when I watched the Netflix series on her and Harry.

I also think my conversations with them would be different than the typical “interview” questions they are probably used to. Of course some of them would be the same. You can’t sit down with great musicians and not ask them about their music, or an actress and not ask about her favorite role. After those questions were out of the way, I’d ask all of them what their favorite childhood memory was. I love to see the way people light up when they talk about happy memories. I’d talk to them about their kids, if they see themselves in them, what are their personalities like, what are their hopes and fears for them. I want to know what they do on a lazy Sunday at home. I’d ask what their favorite meal is, where is the most beautiful place they’ve been. Where is a place they’ve never been, but want to go. I’d ask Dave Grohl what rub he uses on his smoked meats. I’d ask Dave Matthews to bring his guitar and play a couple of my favorite songs. Since I’m on a podcast kick, I’d ask if they had any suggestions. I want to know what their favorites books are, what was the best gift they ever received. I really don’t care about the next movie, who their least favorite bandmate was, or what star they would never want to work with again. I’d ask the questions to see what kind of people they are, what makes them tick, what their passions are outside of their professions.

What celebrities would you want to sit down with and why? What would you ask them?

“It’s so easy today to get swept up in celebrity fixation and materialism and searching for some validation outside of yourself when we know it’s really found within and through meaningful connections with other people.”
